About Bradley University
Bradley University, located in Peoria, IL, traces its origins back in 1897, when the philanthropist Lydia Moss Bradley founded the Bradley Polytechnic Institute, in memory of her husband Tobias and their 6 children, all of whom died suddenly.
Due to the fact that there was only one other high school in the city, Bradley was originally organized as a combination of a 2-year college and a 4-year academy. BU rapidly expanded, and by 1899 it was ready to accommodate nearly 500 pupils, offering them study fields that included chemistry, biology, German, English, French, mathematics, history and physics, as well as several other educational programs.
